My wife Duane just finished another quilt. This one is for our Granddaughter's 18th birthday. It is rather large, measuring in at 72'X54" (6X4.5'). I did not have an easy time taking photos of it, but I managed. It's not the best, as my older brother and Duane had to hold it up against our back wall for optimal lighting. I did manage to get some individual blocks taken that are better, but I imagine you get the basic idea. It's a Hello Kitty quilt, which happens to be Sierra's favorite icon. Each block represents some achievement in her younger years. It hard to imagine her as a little girl not too long ago. Now she is out of high school and going Saddle Back Community College in the fall. What's next? Harvard, Yale, Princeton, who knows.
Sierra not only turned 18 in July, but she graduated high school in June as well. We spent some time in San Clemente this year for the graduation and subsequent party. Later in the evening, Sierra had to go to her graduation party where they lock the kids in the gym for the night and let them out in the morning around 6:00 AM. By the time she got back home, Duane and I were headed for home. It seemed like such a long drive, taking the southern route on I-8. It gets a little boring through western Arizona prior to Yuma, then again into the Phoenix area. All in all, it took us about 6.5 hours making a stop in Yuma for lunch. We did have a great time, seeing our kids and grand kids, even though it was a rather short visit.
